We have some big plans coming up. Yes, we just back from Animal Kingdom, but as I try to grow this blog, I want to focus more on content. For the trip to Animal Kingdom, I had the right mindset, but the second I got off of the bus at Animal Kingdom, that plan all went out the door. We enjoyed ourselves as a family and, yes, I got some content but I didn’t get the content I wanted to get. I didn’t get the video clips, I didn’t get all of the rides we did, I didn’t get the foods we tried, the locations we went to. I missed the boat on a lot of that because I went all fan girl (and I’m a guy…).
When we got home, Kim (my wife) and I sat down and talked about how our plan went awry. We talked about how we didn’t come back with as much content as we thought we’d have. I also talked about how I was quite fond of the one day/one park weekend trips. Yes, they take a toll on my body driving 12 hours, being in a park all day and then driving 12 hours back, but for Disney magic and content, I’ll suffer. We kind of both agreed that with life things coming up (braces, back to school supplies, uniforms, etc) we would likely NOT be doing another one day/one park trip anytime this year.
Within 2 weeks of us being back, Kim had already started coming up with some dates for us to visit Epcot on a one-day trip. Food and Wine is going on, and it lasts so long that she figured we could get a massive ton of content, enjoy ourselves in a leisurely stroll around Epcot and ride everything we want to ride. The caveat to this is we would leave our kids at home. Out of our three kids, the younger two (the 7 and 10 year olds) love ALL the parks. Our oldest will only entertain a one-day trip to Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. The boy has his priorities and has even said, “driving in a car for 12 hours to only go to Epcot or Animal Kingdom is NOT worth it!”. He also prefers the bigger, week long trips we take almost yearly.
Sans kids, this trip would allow us to focus solely on the park, the content and each other. It would essentially be the best date night ever. We’d get to experience Food and Wine and see Epcot (and Disney for that matter) decked out in Christmas decorations.
Right now, we’re still in the early stages of “Can we swing this?”, but I’m hoping we can. So, if you had a chance to visit one park for one day, which park would it be?
