What you’ll need
- 2 to 4 tablespoons of At The Movies Buttery Oil and Topping (Linked below) or Orville Redenbacher Popping & Topping Buttery Flavored Oil
- 2/3 cup of popcorn kernels of your choice
- 2 teaspoons of Flavacol Popcorn seasoning (linked below) or 1 teaspoon of kosher salt (ground up to a powder consistency) or 1 teaspoon of table salt
- 10 to 12-quart pot or Dutch oven
- Bowl large enough to accommodate at least 8 cups of popped corn.
Step 1
You’ll need to get a large stock pot, Dutch oven or at least a 10 or 12-quart pot with a lid. Put 2 to 4 tablespoons of the At The Movies Buttery Oil and Topping (Linked below) or Orville Redenbacher Popping &
Topping Buttery Flavored Oil in the pot and put that on a high heat on your stove. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of Flavacol Popcorn seasoning (Linked below) in the oil and mix around
Step 2
Add the popcorn to the oil and let it heat up. I do not like to let the oil heat up first since I do not want it to burn. As the oil heats, you’ll see it start to bubble around the corn kernels. Carefully shake the pot on the burner side to side to move the kernels around.
Step 3
As the oil is heating and you’re shaking the pot to move the kernels, eventually they will start popping. Once the pot is half full with popped corn, you can stop moving the pot around and then once the popped corn gets almost to the top of the pot, you’ll want to turn the heat off and remove the pot from the stove. Listen for the popping to slow down and transfer to a bowl big enough to accommodate the popped corn.
Step 4 (Optional if you use the Flavacol seasoning below – You do NOT need additional salt with Flavacol!)
If you do not have a spice grinder or food processor to grind up the kosher salt into a powder, then use table salt. Sprinkle a generous pinch of the teaspoon of salt over the popped corn. Toss the popped corn in the bowl and repeat sprinkling a generous pinch over the popped corn until it is seasoned to your taste.
Our Story
UPDATE!
After searching and trying different things, and doing some digging, I found this Flavacol combination. It’s essentially the oil (similar if not the same as the Orville Redenbacher Popping and Topping oil), but it is also the Flavacol seasoning that literally pulls the popcorn into the “Disney Park Level” stratosphere! Here is my Amazon Affiliate link: https://amzn.to/43uEEP1

This is the recipe that I find tastes like Disney Park popcorn. It’s not 100% because I don’t have that yellow buttery coloring. I know there is a mix you can put into the oil to give it that and I can’t remember who it’s from, but I haven’t come across it outside of Sam’s Club from years ago (we haven’t been
members there for years).
Either way, this is a good recipe, and if you have a Disney Popcorn bucket, you can scoop some in there and enjoy it with a YouTube video of Illuminations of Us, Fantasmic, or even Happily Ever After!
