We have a bit of a unique situation coming up in July. On July 7th, we will be leaving Marco Island, Fl and heading to Disney World. We’re going to stay at Pop Century and we’re going to be going to Animal Kingdom that day (July 7th). So, just to clear things up here is what we’re doing:
- Leave Marco Island and head to Disney
- Park at Pop Century and hop a bus to Animal Kingdom
- Hopefully arrive at Animal Kingdom for Rope Drop
- Do all the things!
- Take a bus back to Pop after park close
- Wake up, ride Skyliner and monorail
- Check out and head home.

I know there’s potentially some confusion with this plan. The first question being, can I actually park at the resort even though I may not have a room number designated yet? Or, better yet, can I park at the resort having only done online check-in and go to the park that I have a reservation for? The answer to both of those questions is a resounding YES!
If your reservation (both resort and park) is for July 7th, then you can have full access to everything Disney on July 7th regardless of if you’ve actually stepped foot inside your room. If we really wanted to, we could leave our bags with the front desk and they will bring them to our room once it is ready so that when we come back from the park, we just have to go straight to our room.
One other thing we could do is go straight to Animal Kingdom and park there free of charge. We’re staying on property so we get complimentary parking at the parks. We’re just choosing to go the Disney transportation route for convenience.
Oh, and by the way, Character Hugs are BACK as of today (4/18/2022)! That means you can hug Mickey, Minnie and the rest of your favorite Disney Characters!

Authors Note/Warning/Reminder
I also want to share that as soon as you purchase your tickets you have to make a park reservation. I cannot stress enough that you MUST do this. If you do not reserve your park, you run the risk of being stuck with a ticket and no availability to get into a park. Please do not wait until the month before your visit to try to grab tickets and expect parks to have openings. The warnings are everywhere on Disney’s site. Please, please, please get your reservations quickly!
Again, to reiterate, purchasing a ticket DOES NOT ensure you will get into a Disney World park! You HAVE to make a specific reservation for a specific park!
